Privacy Notice
How we collect, use and protect your personal information, and the rights you have over it. Last updated 26 August 2026.
Who we are
The practice trading as Happy Family Therapy Centre is the data controller for the personal information described here. It is registered with the Companies Registration Office under the business name Happy Family, and details of the registered proprietor are held on the public CRO register at core.cro.ie.
The practice is run by Siobhan Sassone and is based in Greystones, County Wicklow. The best way to reach us about your information, including any of the rights set out below, is by email at siobhan@happyfamilytherapy.com. We give our full address when an in-person appointment is arranged.
What we collect, and why
If you use the contact form. We collect your name, phone number and your message, so that we can reply to you. We ask you not to include medical or therapy details in that form.
If you become a client. Before a first appointment we ask you to complete an intake form. This collects your contact details, date of birth, marital status, and optionally information about your family, home, background and health. Health information is described separately below.
When you visit the website. We count visits using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your device and does not follow you to other websites. It tells us how many people viewed a page and roughly where in the world they were, not who they are.
Notes from sessions. If you become a client, we keep records relating to your therapy, as any professional practice does.
Our legal basis for using it
We use your contact and appointment details to provide therapy to you under our agreement, which is our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Where you contact us before becoming a client, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Health information, including any details of medication, health conditions and substance use, is special category data. We use it only with your explicit consent, which we ask for separately on the intake form (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us.
Information about other people
The intake form lets you share information about your children where it feels relevant to your care. We hold those details only to support your therapy.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking, and we do not build a profile of you.
Our forms are protected from automated abuse by Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile processes only what is strictly necessary to tell a person from a bot, and it does not read what you type into a form. Cloudflare may also set strictly necessary cookies for security and to keep the site working. Cookies of that kind do not require your consent, which is why you are not asked to dismiss a cookie banner on this site.
Who else sees your information
Your information is seen only by your therapist. It is never sold, and never used for advertising.
Two service providers handle it on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website, protects our forms and provides our visit statistics.
- Google Workspace, which we use for email and for online sessions on Google Meet.
Google may process some information outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and by standard contractual clauses. We never record sessions.
How long we keep it
We keep client records for seven years after your final session. Where the client is under 18, we keep records until seven years after their eighteenth birthday. We hold records for this period to meet our insurance obligations and to be able to deal with any legal claim.
General enquiries that do not lead to an appointment are deleted within twelve months.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, provide a portable copy, or object to our use of it. You can also withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.
Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it, and we may need to keep some records in order to deal with a legal claim. To exercise any of these rights, email siobhan@happyfamilytherapy.com. We will respond within one month.
Automated decisions
We do not make any decision about you by automated means, and we do not profile you. Anything that affects how your therapy is delivered is discussed with you first.
In an emergency
This practice does not provide emergency, crisis, medical or psychiatric services, and our forms and inbox are not monitored for emergencies. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, or at dataprotection.ie.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information we will update this page and change the date shown at the top. Where a change is significant, we will tell current clients directly.
